Joshua Myers

Joshua specialises in spinal and lower extremity injury rehabilitation and biomechanics and is currently studying in London for a Masters Degree in Osteopathic Medicine. Following a very brief training spell with the Royal Marines Commando, leading to two broken legs, Joshua was able to experience life from the other side of the curtain as a fracture patient for a long time before deciding to begin his studies in Pathophysiology and gaining his qualifications in Soft Tissue Manipulation and Myofascial Therapies, subsequently undertaking a degree in Osteopathy.

“Speaking from a rather unfortunate amount of experience, I know what it’s like to be knocked back by the insidious spectre of pain and injury just as your feeling fighting fit again. Undergoing rehabilitative therapy in various clinics as well as focused and attentive treatments from Osteopaths and Sports Therapists was absolutely instrumental in my recovery and ability to return quickly to exercise. Moreover as a practitioner, it instilled in me very early on the critical significance of a holistic approach to musculoskeletal injury rehabilitation and most importantly, patient care.

I want every patient to feel as though they have received service that has accounted for them as an individual, not just an injured body, so they are able to move forward with the most positive possible outlook on treatment and getting back to physical activity.”

Joshua has spent time completing clinical practice training in clinics in London and Hertfordshire as well as with Premiership football players, spending time shadowing the first team lead medical consultants at Middlesbrough Football Club who work closely with the injured players through dynamic treatment programmes. He has also worked with various surgeons through his continuing professional development.

He is an active member of the Spinal Injuries Association and the Institute of Osteopathy and is currently undertaking a diploma in Football Medicine through FIFA to further bolster his knowledge in the field of rehabilitation and therapy for elite athletes.
