Julie studied for 3 years at the highly accredited Northern College of Acupuncture (NCA), York, where she achieved a Bachelor of Science in Acupuncture.
She is a full member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) which is the umbrella organisation for fully trained and qualified acupuncturist throughout the UK. All clinics where Julie practices are covered by a licence issued by the Environmental Health Organisation. Acupuncturists are expected to maintain strict Codes of Ethics, Safe Practice and Confidentiality.
Julie is able to use acupuncture to treat a variety of conditions and support her clients throughout their lives giving rise to her philosophy “acupuncture for life”. Treatment is unique for each individual but is aimed at the root cause of the problem not just the symptoms, helping to restore or maintain good health.
Fertility and women’s health
However, her area of specialism is Fertility and women’s health. Providing treatment and support for fertility patients, whether it is natural or assisted. Julie is a Zita West affiliated practitioner (UK’s No1 for preconception planning, natural fertility, IVF, pregnancy and post-natal support).
Continuous professional development (CPD)
CPD is extremely important to Julie attending additional training and seminars regularly.
Attended a Musculoskeletal training course with highly acclaimed Phil Macqueen of Australia allows Julie to incorporates techniques like tendon stretching and Acupuncture in the treatment of musculoskeletal conditions such as Sciatica and shoulder conditions.
Julie also uses Taping therapy, which supports acutely injured muscles, rehabilitates chronic neuromuscular conditions and reduces inflammation. It involves taping over and around joints and muscles in order to assist and give support, stabilising joints and muscles without affecting the range of motion.
Northern College of Acupuncture
Since 2012 Julie has been part of the Teaching Team at the Northern College of Acupuncture in York. Working with students to develop their understanding and competency in the fundamental aspects of acupuncture including Acupuncture Points Location, Clinical Skills and Pulses.
