Sciatica Symptoms and Treatment Options

It's very common that you will hear the term sciatica. In fact sciatica has many different causes. It is NOT a diagnosis itself, but it is a group of symptoms that requires a diagnosis.

Nerves that follow the sciatic pathway can become trapped and inflamed when muscles in the back spasm. These nerves might also get compressed by a bulge in one of the disc between the boney parts of the spine.

The sciatic nerve starts in the lower back and runs through the buttock down the back of the leg, down the calf and into the foot.

Symptoms include pins and needles weakness numbness and can change the way in which you walk. It's not uncommon to have the symptoms without any back pain despite the fact that a trapped nerve is almost always found in the lower back.

We are experts and treating sciatica. We use osteopathic hands on treatment and physiotherapy exercises to reduce discomfort.
