Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body, and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together.

Osteopaths use touch, physical manipulation, stretching and massage to increase the mobility of joints, to relieve muscle tension, to enhance the blood and nerve supply to tissues, and to help your body’s own healing mechanisms. They may also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.

Treating Toddlers and Children with Osteopathy

We are experienced at treating children and are commonly asked to treat babies & toddlers.

As far as babies are concerned we can direct you to the best cranial osteopaths in the north of england who specialise in the treatment of babies.

It is worth finding an experienced osteopath who treats babies who is also trained in the cranial field. This is particularly important if your baby is very young and the issues are of an ongoing nature.

In most situations toddlers are easier to treat, please do come and we will give you an opinion of what to do next.

I (Julian) am very experienced at handling babies and when they need a more expert eye given. I have five in my own brood under seven years of age!

There are Osteopaths in the north-east who are trained in cranial osteopathy and I'd be happy to direct you to them if this is needed.

For older children or toddlers we will assess in a similar way to adults looking at the biomechanics movement of joints.
